4 Effective Ways to Improve Your Gut Microflora

3/7/2017

By now, you've probably read many articles on gut microflora and understand how important it is to your overall health - including immunity, digestion, mood, and even your ability to absorb key nutrients from the food you eat!  Before I delve into the "meat" of this blog post, I first want to explain a bit of background information, so you can better understand how your gut microflora impacts you on an everyday basis.

Trillions of bacteria and other microorganisms live inside of and on the surface of your body.  The most concentrated area in your body that houses these microscopic creatures is your colon, or large intestine.  Some of these microorganisms promote health and actively protect you against pathogens that lead to illness.  These beneficial critters are known as
probiotics, which literally means "for life". An overarching goal with digestive health is to have more health-promoting probiotics and fewer pathogenic microorganisms, including parasites, overgrowth of Candida (a yeast), E. coli, and other harmful bacteria.

If you're part of the 20% of Americans with IBS, you know it well: the bloating, abdominal pain, cramping, constipation, diarrhea, and gas interfere with your everyday life.  By now, you have probably tried countless interventions trying to make sense of your symptoms.  Perhaps you haven't been able to get a grip on your symptoms and your gut throws you for a loop more often than you'd like, even if you've been keeping a detailed food and symptom log.  This is because IBS symptoms can have many different culprits, including delayed reactions.

Simple Meets Delicious - What I've Been Eating Lately...

To say a lot has happened since I last wrote a blog post would be an understatement!  For time's sake, I'll summarize what I've been up to with my LEAP program the past few weeks first, and then I'll save my "personal drama" for last, which means you don't have to spend your precious personal time reading about my fiasco unless if you want to!

In my previous post, I summarized my improved MRT food sensitivity test results and how this has significantly improved my IBS.  I also mentioned I would be using my recent test results to personally go through the LEAP (Lifestyle, Eating, and Performance) process again to help me design the programs I create for my clients to enhance their results (experience is the best teacher).  The past few weeks, I have enjoyed creating different concoctions with the 25 different foods I selected for my ImmunoCalm Phase (days #1-14).

Each person's ImmunoCalm food list is unique based on his/her personal symptoms, MRT food sensitivity test results, and individual food preferences.

LEAP Ahead With Better Health - Proof That It Works!

In my last post, I talked about the tool that transformed my health: the Mediator Release Test (MRT food sensitivity test), combined with the LEAP protocol (Lifestyle, Eating, and Performance), plus the skill set I acquired to become a Certified LEAP Therapist (CLT).  I went from feeling fatigued and foggy-headed with joint pain and IBS symptoms (fluctuating constipation and diarrhea) to feeling like a new person over the course of several weeks!  Because of my transformational success, I was very curious to find out how my current MRT results would compare to my first food sensitivity test 6 months prior.  So, I got retested and I was pleased with how my test results came back!  On October 6, 2015, I had 5 severe food sensitivities + 15 moderate food sensitivities + 7 moderate food chemical sensitivities (2 of them being on the cusp of severe).  On April 25, 2016, my results came back with 0 severe food sensitivities, 15 moderate food sensitivities (many of them being low-moderate), and only 2 moderate food chemical sensitivities (both low-moderate).  Below are side-by-side snapshot comparisons between my first and second tests.  You can also click HERE and HERE to view the full versions of both tests to see for yourself!
